To immigrate to the Northwest Territories (NWT) through the Northwest Territories Nominee Program, you have following options:

​​Candidate Streams:

Business Stream: This stream is for foreign nationals who want to start a business in the NWT, purchase an existing business based here, or invest in and operate an existing business in the NWT.​

Employer Stream

1. Skilled Worker: Designed to attract qualified individuals for jobs in the NWT requiring formal education, specialized training, or both. Applicants must demonstrate they have the training, experience, and education to fulfill the job requirements, with one year of full-time experience in the relevant occupation.

2. NWT Express Entry: For skilled workers with a profile in the Express Entry System, aiming to work and live in the NWT. Fast-tracks applications for permanent residency and grants 600 points within the Express Entry pool upon approval.

3. Entry Level/Semi-Skilled Occupations: For filling shortages in entry-level jobs when local or national Canadian candidates are unavailable. Applicants must have worked full-time in the same position with the employer for six months and be in good standing with the requirements of their temporary foreign work permit.

Francophone Stream: This stream is for qualified foreign nationals who speak both French and English and have a valid job offer from an NWT employer. It aims to increase the labor pool for bilingual workers across all National Occupational Classification skill levels (NOC skill level O, A, B, C & D). Minimum language requirements in both French and English must be met at the time of application, with proof of testing provided.
